Time of Great Dying: Population Bomb Bursts, the End of Old-Growth Forests, and the Great Awakening — GarryRogers Nature Conservation

The campaign to maintain large old-growth forests is lost. What old forests remain are emasculated fragments of their former ecological and evolutionary brilliance. Earth’s old-growth forest heritage has been dismembered through logging, saturated in nitrogen, cleansed of large wildlife, and have become sources rather than sinks of carbon pollution.” –Dr. Glen Barry

Sabinoso Wilderness

The Secretary of Interior recently enlarged the Sabinoso Wilderness in New Mexico by accepting a donation of 3,595 acres of adjacent lands from the Wilderness Land Trust. The donation makes public access to this wilderness available for the first time. It had been entirely surrounded by private lands, but with the donation there is now connection to a public county road. The newly added land includes highly scenic sandstone cliffs, woodlands, and riparian vegetation, which offer outstanding hiking, horseback riding, and hunting opportunities, and because of these values, will be a focal point of the wilderness.
